Study Metrics ("we", "us", "our") is built on a simple idea: the tools should work without us knowing anything about you. This policy explains what little data is involved when you use our website, how cookies and advertising work, and the choices you have.
On this page
1. Information we collect
We designed Study Metrics to collect as little as possible. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or any personal details to use the calculators and tools on this site.
The numbers you enter into our tools are processed entirely within your browser. They are never transmitted to our servers.
2. Data stored on your device
To make the tools more convenient, some of them save your inputs in your browser's local storage. For example, your GPA courses or an in-progress essay in the word counter may be remembered so a page refresh doesn't wipe your work.
This data stays on your own device and is not accessible to us. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device. Study Metrics itself sets one cookie to remember your advertising consent choice (sm_cookie_consent). This cookie contains only the word "accepted" or "declined" and expires after one year. It does not identify you.
Third-party services we rely on — principally Google AdSense — may set additional cookies to serve and measure ads. These are only loaded after you give consent.
4. Advertising, Google AdSense & your choices
Study Metrics is free to use and is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads. Ads are only loaded after you click Accept in the cookie consent banner shown on your first visit.
- If you accept: Google may use cookies to personalise ads based on your interests and prior browsing. Your consent is stored for one year.
- If you decline: no advertising cookies are set and no ads are loaded. Some ad slots may display as empty spaces.
- You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's site data for studymetrics.app, which resets the banner on your next visit.
- You may also opt out of personalised advertising globally at Google Ads Settings or optout.aboutads.info.
5. Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which tools are popular and how the site performs, so we can improve it. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
6. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (Europe) or CCPA (California). Because we do not collect personal data through the tools themselves, most requests relate to cookies set by third parties.
7. Children's privacy
Study Metrics is intended for a general student audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
